Advantages Of Fiberglass Pools Over Other Types

By Marci Glover

The heat is upon the country once again, which means it is almost time for the favorite season for most people which is summer. During this time, people go on vacations. They also immerse themselves in activities that would fight of the heat. For example, people quench their thirst by making shakes and smoothies. They submerge their bodies in nearby bodies of water. Most go to the beaches. Some go to public pools. Then there are also some who enjoy their vacation waddling in their very own fiberglass pools.

A swimming pool is a container that is filled with water. It is mainly used for swimming and for other water based activities that provide enjoyment. Pools can be accessible for everyone, and can also be exclusive to a select few. They come in varying sizes according to the amount of space intended for it. The largest one is the Olympic size which, yes you got that right, used in Olympic competitions.

These things actually came a long way in the history of humankind. It probably started in present day Pakistan during the third millennium BC. It is nothing like the modern type because it was then lined by bricks and cracks are sealed with tar. The people back then referred to it as the Great Bath. Ancient Greeks and Romans, on the other hand, built similar structures not for bathing, but for military and nautical training.

The pools that closely resembled the ones everyone is familiar with started in Britain during the nineteenth century. During these times cases of drowning at a nearby river reached an all time high. The statistics alarmed local officials so they thought of having an enclosed facility where people can swim safely. Since the container had a fixed depth, cases of drowning were successfully diminished.

There are many different types of pools. Private ones are open to a select few. They are most often found in exclusive club houses where only the members and their guests get to enjoy the amenities. Public types are larger than private ones, and are usually part of a big water complex. For a small fee, anyone can swim in during open hours.

The smallest pools are those intended for little kids. These do not go higher than four feet. They are made to ensure safety for the children who are at risk for drowning in adult ones. At least, in a shallow one, they get to enjoy and be safe at the same time.

There are also those that are connected to salty bodies of water. They are known as ocean pools and provide for a private setting for its users. Those that look limitless are termed as infinity because they seem to stretch to the ends of the world.

They are also classified according to the materials from which they are made. Concrete pools are the traditional ones that everyone knew. These are especially made for diving because they do not have standard sizes. In short, you are free to make your own design that will best fit your needs.

Fiberglass ones are prefabricated types that can be installed in three days, maximum. They are smooth to the touch so that the user will not incur abrasions, bumps, scratches and bruises when getting in and out of the pool. They are also easy to maintain and requires not much money.
