It Is A Choice To Believe Or Reject The Idea Of Reincarnation It Can Be Believed But Cannot Be Proven

A doctrine of Buddhism, Hinduism and tribal societies, reincarnation also has believers living in the Western World. To those who believe, this concept makes as much sense as the Christian doctrine of Jesus dying on the Cross and coming back before rising to Heaven. Spiritually, both are equally possible.

The idea is unacceptable to most followers of Christianity, Judaism and Islamic followers. But, some sects within these major religions do accept reincarnation as truth. One such example is the Kaballah, which branched out from Judaism. Most East Indian religions and residents of the Eastern World do believe it is reality.

There was a Madison, Wisconsin housewife who, under hypnosis, regressed to a previous life as a child in Ireland. She repeated details of that previous life. It was lived in Ireland 59 years before the Madison woman was born. She related incidents from that life and even spoke using an Irish dialect, which the housewife would have had no knowledge of.

As the hypnotist took the middle class housewife into a regression that occurred prior to her birth in Wisconsin, she spoke to him in the guise of Bridey Murphy, who lived in 19th century Ireland. Morey Bernstein, the man who put her under hypnosis, claimed she revealed memories of that past life that correlated to later research into the life of Bridey Murphy.

There are many children who tell their parents about memories of another life without provocation. A researcher, Dr. Ian Stevenson interviewed over 3000 of these children. Following the same stringent protocol, he investigated all the information.

He collected information that was reported by the child. The second was finding out the factual information about the deceased individual alleged to be the predecessor. Finally, he carefully matched them. Birthmarks were verified by checking medical records of both children.

His purely scientific verifications ruled out other explanations. He investigated cases of children from many countries. There are 3000 cases he has verified. The data supports this concept as factual.

Dr. Stevenson is a respected individual with a spotless reputation. He has a medical degree and has written many articles prior to the time he began his investigations. He was head of the Psychiatry Department at the University of Virginia, an accredited college.

Buddhism teaches there is not an eternal soul, only a stream of consciousness linking one life to another one. According to them, there is no eternal soul. Following someones death he is reborn. The number of lives range from five to ten depending on the branch.

Traditional Buddhism teaches that there are ten. They are classified from the top, most important, which is Buddha, to the bottom, which is depraved man. Each new life brings greater compassion and striving to achieve enlightenment.

Any individual can choose whether to believe in reincarnation or not. The belief can be based on science or religion. The concept of another life after the current one is a comforting one. It is merely a theory though, as is religion. There is no solid proof of the existence of either concept.
