Learn How To Release Emotion

By Deborah Moore

Without expressing emotions with one another, people begin to experience psychological issues. Often, this can happen because of the way a person has been brought up or because of what they have been taught. It is unhealthy to repress these feelings. This is why one needs to learn how to release emotion in any form.

Often, parents have taught their kids to be strong and not to cry. They may have been taught to do the same things in their own childhood. This is why they use these types of parenting skills. It is difficult for them to show emotions of their own because of the way in which they have been brought up.

However, it is impossible not to show your feelings. You simply have to get upset when something traumatic happens in your life. You can't block this out of your life. When you have been told not to be angry, this is also something that you believe. However, it is a natural part of life. It will build up inside of you.

The first thing that you need to do is to love and accept yourself. Children who grew up not being able to express themselves, did not know a lot about love. When you don't know about self love and acceptance, it is difficult to feel anything towards others. This can sometimes be overwhelming, and it takes time to go through the process.

If something traumatic happens as a child, it can be too difficult to talk about it. This is understandable. A child like this will turn to other forms of entertainment which will distract them and they will block out the trauma in their lives. But it will be in their subconscious. They won't forget about this. It will still be there as they grow up.

Of course, this can be a long process during therapy. It will obviously depend on the underlying issue. Some people struggle with something such as abuse. They may be suffering from PTSD. They may have been suffering from recent triggers which have led to flashbacks. There is obviously a lot to deal with.

However, there are various techniques that therapists use. This can even relate to art and creative therapy. The process is slow, but over time, the individual will learn how to process this and to get rid of the toxic energy which has filled them in a negative way all of their lives.

Even after therapy, there will still be obstacles that you will have to face in your life. Children who have been abused in the past, will be scarred, but therapy will at least have helped them to cope with various situations that come their way. You will get to know yourself and you will also listen to your body which will make you feel confident and self aware as well.
