Topics Often Discussed In Theology Articles

By Michelle Phillips

When it comes to writing about religion and spirituality, there are a number of publications in which one can do so. In one case, Theology articles are a great way to discuss important topics related to these areas. For, regardless of faith, most people whom believe in a higher power or powers often have a lot to discuss.

One organization, The Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission publishes these articles on a regular basis. Topics often range from political theology to commentary on current trends, the reformation and the separation of church and state. For, the topic is at the forefront of churches and the current U. S. Administration more than ever before in the history of the United States.

In other cases, articles have been known to discuss different names and terms used for God such as Creator, Great Mystery, Universe, Lord and Father. For, while the old testament refers to God as Lord, the new testament gospels always use the term Father. Most likely because the new testament focuses on Jesus as the Son of God.

While this is the case, there are others whom simply use the phrase "God Is, " or a "Divine presence, " without providing either male or female pronouns. In some cases, these are individuals whom identify more as spiritual than religious. Whereas, in others, it is part of a more liberal and open minded religious base. One church in particular in which this is more common is that of the Episcopalians.

Current trends which the church now questions include moral attitudes towards various lifestyles. For example, such as whether God loves those in the LGBTQ community and sees these individuals as children of God, or sinners whom are beyond salvation. At the same time, those whom know the Bible know that the new testament book of John teaches that Christ came to declare a new law of love for all people.

As a result of this thinking, there are many individuals within the LGBTQ+ community whom have not been able to find a church home. For, there are far more conservative evangelical congregations than more liberal ones in most areas. While this is the case, more and more churches are starting to share the belief that love is granted to all God's children regardless of economic status, gender, race, sexual orientation and other factors.

As theology is often a hot topic among those attending seminary or divinity school, scripture is often referenced. Regardless of verse, the topics based on scripture have the ability to be enlightening, informative and inspirational. In large part, the response depends on the author. Whether of the Christian, Jewish, Muslim or other faiths, those writing content related to a divine presence often have a great deal of insight as to what is, and always will remain a great mystery.

Ultimately, articles of this nature have the ability to inform, inspire and enlighten readers. Whereas, depending on the author, information and tone, the opposite can also be true. As such, whether reading or writing this type content, it is often best to do so in a suggestive manner with an open mind. For, regardless of belief, God is, always has been and always will be a great mystery.
