How To Create Unique Tree Skirts

By Debra Cooley

A wonderful idea for the Christmas is creating unique tree skirts. They can help be a reminder of the year that is about to end and a great way to record the hand prints of your children. A unique tree skirt can even be made and given as a present for the grandma and grandpa.

Contemplate using an array of different prints for them. Do hand prints of your whole family, place both your child's feet and hand prints side by side on the skirt, or maybe the dog will want to get in on the fun and add his paw print. Tracing the little one's hands and feet and then painting inside the shapes is one way to incorporate them or you could use another piece of material and trace them and cut them out followed by gluing them onto the skirt.

Find the middle of the material square. Fold the material in horizontally, right facet in, and so in vertically. Mark the middle of the square the corner of the fold with the marker.

Place one finish of the ruler on the dot, decide thirty inches, and mark another dot. Do each three or four inches to make an arc. Cut the material on this line. Unfold the fabric; you ought to currently have a sixty in. Circle opening.

If you want a different approach at making the hole, open up the material that you previously folded, place it on the middle dot, and trace around it. Cut it directly along the marks you jut drew going all the way to the middle dot, then cut out the mug-size shape.

Lay it flat after the hole and slit are made. Put glue around the edges and take about twelve inches of fabric and press it firmly to begin hemming the edges. Go on gluing twelve-inch portions until you could have hemmed your entire tree skirt. Next utilize that identical technique to hem up both sides of the slit part. Let the glue dry. Now you may want to spruce it up a bit by gluing some pretty trim round the border of it, about 2 and a half inches of trim ought to do just fine. Allow it to dry thoroughly.

Pour a shallow pool of gold acrylic craft paint on the plate. One at a time, have every kid press her palm into the paint thus it's coated, then have her press it down firmly and equally on the skirt. Advise her to not wiggle her hand on the skirt and to raise it straight up once she is finished. If the prints area unit uneven, you'll be able to fill in skinny spots with a applier and a few gold paint. Otherwise you will utterly paint over the hand print with gold glitter paint, as shown here.

Next have them use some squeezable paint to add their names next to the prints they made. You can next cut out Christmas shapes and add dates to them if you want and then glue them down on your uniquely made tree skirts. All that is left is to place it around your tree base or wrap it up and place it under the tree as a gift for a loved one on Christmas morning.
