7 Beliefs That Are Connected To The Weeping Statue Mary

By Gary Rogers

Recently, a molding of the mother of God was found shedding tears in a Catholic church located in Hobbs, NM. The weeping statue Mary astonished so many onlookers. People are still curious to know why the molding is crying. For some, this is the first time they have seen a molding shed tears. It is thus considered a miracle to many. So many people are traveling from far places so that they can watch the crying sculpture. It has turned to an attraction even to tourists from other states. Believers are gathering around the molding to pray to the Virgin to intercede for them.

The tears shed by the sculpture have been identified to be olive oil and balsam. These two oils are normally used for certain rituals in the Catholic faith. This usually takes after receiving blessings from a bishop. This is why most onlookers have gathered to pray for forgiveness and healing. To them, this is a miracle from the Almighty.

There have been many claims about crying sculptures throughout the history in the Catholic belief. For instance, the Madonna of Syracuse, a molding made of plaster has been shedding tears since the year 1953. In fact, last year more moldings were reported to be crying in Argentina, Hungary, and Macedonia among many others. This is thus a common phenomenon in Catholicism.

One cannot understand how the crying sculpting would be religiously meaningful if they do not appreciate the critical connection between miracles and the Virgin Mary. The Catholic faith believes that she is the mother of Jesus Christ. This means that she is the mother of God. The Catholics thus believe that she is very powerful and capable of performing miracles. Also, these supernatural events have been attributed to her power.

To add on that, the Catholic believers believe that the power of the intercession of the virgin led to the Lepanto Battle victory. Therefore, believers pray for forgiveness through the virgin. They believe that when the virgin interceded for you, you will be victorious in all your battles. More so, you will be strong in faith and continue being a victor every day.

The tears shed by the molding have an importance in the Catholic faith. The Catholics believe that the Virgin cries because of sins committed by humankind. Also, she is believed to cry due to the intense pain she endured while she was still on the earth. There are seven sorrows that she cries for, among them, the crucifixion as well as the death of Jesus.

The soft flowery scent of balsam and olive oil is used by the Catholic faith to evoke her. Since she is referred to as the rose without thorns, these two oils are very significant. It is thus not a new thing to find believers gathered around the molding praying.

Nevertheless, when this happens, a local bishop should step in to investigate. The local bishop, or a committee that is guided by him, start the investigations. They evaluate the supernatural phenomena of the weeping molding. They are usually supervised by the standards that were set by the Vatican's Doctrines. This is the only way they can find out if the crying is real or not.
