By Jerry King

The body does not exist in a vacuum. It depends on one's spirit and the mind. This trinity brings the fullness of a human being. Thus, spiritual growth is a matter of paramount importance. Spiritual food is just as important as the normal food. A person's spirit deserves nourishment but few individuals do these. All that most people are concerned with is beautifying their bodies and satisfying their stomachs. Yet, the body and the stomach will be destroyed and the spirit will remain. Being beautiful and eating right have their place in wellness. However, one should not forget the need for spiritual nourishment.

The spirit is largely ignored. No wonder many people are living sad, meaningless lives. Happiness, satisfaction, and comfort are all in the spirit. Growing one's spirit can be through meditation. To many, life seems a mystery. Some see life as one big Rubik's cube or an unsolvable crossword puzzle. This is because of failure to connect the dots. The equation will be complete once the spirit is factored in and one will be able to enjoy the abundance of life. It is not all about flesh, blood, thoughts and emotions.

By growing in relation to spirituality, one will get valuable enlightenment. The eyes of the spirit best see some things because the physical eyes are deceiving. There are many ways to connect with the spiritual side. It all depends on a person's belief. In most cases, religion and spirituality go hand in hand. However, this is not always the case. Most religious people are spiritual.

Spirituality can be shaped by religious thought. Religion has made the world a better place. Religious thoughts, stipulations and moral codes have shaped the legal systems of most countries. It is impossible to imagine a religion that does not involve spirituality. The leading world religions depend on the ability of people to activate their spirits through prayers, fasting and meditation.

Most people consider their faith as something important. There are many believers than non-believers in the world. To some, faith and spirituality is more than just going to church or the mosque. It is something that lives on the inside. A person might not be aligned to any major denomination but he maybe a person who places a lot of emphasis on spirituality.

Man was meant to be a spirit being. However, most humans try very much to separate themselves from their essence of being that is their spirit.
