In the yester years, most Christians thought that the second coming of Christ will take place in their lifetime. This did not happen. The bible points out of several events that must take place before His second coming. Notably, nearly all of the bible prophesies hall all been fulfilled meaning His coming is near. The last of this is Roman Empire that crumbled to the present day Europe. The holy bible I Revelation 17:12-14 says that there will be an attempt to unite the former Roman Empire.
The European nations joined hands and are moving towards a unified state. They have a monetary union, a parliament and everything else is coming into place. While other attempts to unite them were by use of force, this is a voluntary union preparing the way for the coming of Christ. The holy bible is not clear which nations will form the final union, but it states that they will be ten.
The gospel is also to be spread to all nations before Christ comes back. Mathew 24:14 talks of this an impediment to His coming. A while back, most communist and Islamic countries restricted the gospel. However, technology has enabled the gospel to reach all ends of earth through such mediums as the internet, TV, videos and radio.
