Artistic Expression Exhibiting Faith In Christian Modern Art Is Always Emotional

By Eric Jimenez

It can evoke many emotions, whether abstract or face of Jesus. The artist may define it as a tangible expression of faith. In any case, Christian Modern Art is beautiful, calming and inspires many Christians to pray and follow their belief in God.

Jesus, God and angels are prevalent in many of these paintings. One artist, Thomas Kinade, is considered one of the most collectible of all Christian artists. His works are the tangible way he shares his religious faith with all the world.

There are paintings of Jesus with children and as a shepherd with his flock. His face has a kind, but sorrowful appearance. There are some of Him with the others being crucified on either side of Him. In one abstract the cross is painted in tiny squares of blue color against a bright background of red.

Large and small gold crosses are outlined in blue or red. He is shown in a variety of poses. In one series he is shown as a black distorted figure. His body language alone tells of his sorrow against a stark black backdrop.

The words of various bible verses are done in patterns of all kinds. They may be sad and monotone or bright cheery messages of hope. People can find one of these showing a favorite verse from the bible.

Throughout history, the angels have been a favorite figure used by painters. They tend to be majestic, with outspread wings. Some are like caricatures that may appear as childrens cartoons. One is especially charming, in which a small winged angel flies above a man carrying a heavy burden on his back. The angels hands hold the burden, seemingly lifting the weight and helping him carry it.

The abstracts are painted in an amazing blast of colors, or as stylized flowers growing upward towards the heavens. There are dark, solemn paintings that claim to express the sorrow of Jesus dying on the cross. Each of these two kinds are a personal interpretation from the perspective of each artist.

Each abstract can take on different meaning to each who sees it. Colorful circles and other patterns may mean the circle of life to some. Others perceive all the circular patterns as symbols of eternity or heaven.

The secular abstracts created by Jackson Pollock are popular. The religious abstracts are seen in many homes, both as religious symbols and beautiful art. One Christian artist, Mark Lawrence, creates paintings using a unique digital method. He calls this lovely medium painting with light.
