Over the course of time many faiths have come up. A number of the older organizations have also managed to grow and fit in with the current times. The Episcopal Church Cornelius NC is a branch of one of these. They practice Anglo-Catholic routines, while incorporating some protestant theology. Within America alone it has a following of almost two million people.

It has its origins in the religious institutions of England in seventeenth century and reached North Carolina in the eighteenth century. Around this era they managed to revise the Book of Common Prayer to suit an American way of life. In this era they also formally separated from their founding organization.

The doctrine of the religious faith is based on the life and resurrection of Jesus Christ. They believe there are two necessary sacraments. They also believe in the holy trinity. Emphasis is placed on loving your neighbor as you do yourself, which is the greatest of all commandments. They draw they use Anglican authority concentrating on scripture, tradition and wisdom.

They are governed by a particular institutional policy with its own canon laws organized into dioceses, led by bishops. The congregations elect a vestry which will have the duty of electing the rector in charge of the parish, as well as deacons and priests to assist. Their worship is a mix of Anglican and catholic routines with protestant theology.

They can be considered as open minded due to its acceptance of all people. They have had some controversies over time. The first attempt was in the nineteen seventies, with the ordination of women as priests, then bishops and later an archbishop. This was initially rejected as it was not common practice in the previous years.

Around the same time they accepted the lesbian, gay and bisexual community. They ordained Ellen Barret a priest and allowed same sex unions. This also brought about a lot of controversy for a while. The peak came when the organization ordained Gene Robinson as bishop. This allowed a gay, non-celibate bishop into the doctrine. This caused six of the American dioceses to pull away from the main faith. Their stand on abortion is controversial, as it does not object to a person terminating the pregnancy. It however does not agree with it as method of contraception.

Spiritual nurturing is not all the institution does. It has set up a number of programs. They have a fund to sponsor the learning of the less able members of their congregations. They also have full sponsorship to some seminary students. In times of crisis they also assist with an aid program set to help worldwide in times of disaster.

The good shepherd organization is the branch of this doctrinal body found in Cornelius. They hold a service every Sunday between ten and eleven thirty.
