By Stacey Burt

Most homeowners want all parts of their houses to be attractive, from the top to the bottom. They typically buy ornaments to decorate the interiors. They also engage landscaping services to beautify the exteriors.

Most of them also utilize paints. These paints will add beauty to their homes, especially to the walls and floors. For the latter, they typically purchase Ohio epoxy floor coating. These owners should follow these steps so that they can apply these sealers effectively on their floors.

Different epoxies are available nowadays and are dependent on the manufacturers of these products. However, three ingredients are usually contained in these products which are the resin, catalyst, and pigment. Their prices should be checked and those that could be afforded by them should be bought. The quantities of epoxies needed for their projects should also be identified.

The individual should be determining first if the surface has a coating already. Some kinds of coatings are not appropriate substrates for this product. He could be doing a test in determining a previous sealer. He could be using a mixture of four cups water and one cup muriatic acid. He should be dripping the mixture on different areas. A yellow stain means no sealer present on it.

They should also look for oil or grease stains. These stains may come from their automobiles or other sources. They should remove these stains before they will apply epoxy. They can utilize industrial degreasers for the removal of these stains. They should also look for tire residue and remove them, as well. They should sand or ground them off.

The homeowner should be etching the floor with a masonry cleaner. A kit will typically be having a cleaner inside and the person should be following the instructions for use. He might have to be utilizing a brush in this case. This process is important for the pores of the concrete to be opening up and allowing the paints to be sticking properly to them.

Using a garden hose, he should be wetting the surface and making it moist. Afterwards, he should be pouring the same water with acid mixture evenly on it. He should be scrubbing the area until he gets a foamy reaction. After completing the entire floor, he should be rinsing it well and brooming out the excess water.

These areas should be dried completely by the owners. Seven to even ten days should be allocated for this matter. With this, they could ensure the absence of moisture in the sites. The paints are repelled by wet floors and lead to imperfections. For dryness to be tested, vinyl tiles can be placed overnight and dark appearances can be checked by the persons on them the following day. Moisture is present if dark appearances are visible.

Once these floors have dried, the sealers can be applied by the homeowners. The directions of their usage found on the back labels of the commodities should be followed. These areas can also be designed if they like to. Once the projects are finished, used materials should be disposed properly. These places should be left as is until fully dry.
