The Making Of A Leader:dario Broccolino

Howard County needed another state attorney after the resignation of the then holder of office. This post had to be filled by Dario Broccolino as a stand-in attorney. Years later, this man would become the elected attorney of the county. Before ascending to this interim position and being formally elected as the office bearer, he had been working as the deputy attorney in this same office from 1999.

Before he became an attorney, he had been a coordinator and Executive Director at the association of attorneys for eleven years; from 1988 all the way to 1999. He then served in Baltimore as an assistant state attorney. At this point in time, he worked with four elected attorneys. While in Baltimore, his job description included prosecuting on economy related crimes, drugs and arson.

He was born and brought up in the city of Baltimore. He went to Loyola College located in Maryland, where he got his first degree in 1967. Later, he joined the University of Baltimore and got his J. D degree and years later an advanced law degree with a bias in taxation. Before becoming a lawyer, he had taught social studies at Kenwood and Dulaney High Schools, all are found in Baltimore. For the few years that followed, he worked on the adjunct faculty in Maryland Law School.

He has served in a good number of leadership posts in a varied professions. For example, he worked as the chairperson of a guild of attorneys of his state. The state governor appointed to take a place on the panel of victim services and medical marijuana during the last appointment. This governor had prior to this put him on the cease fire regulation board of Maryland. This was a commission that was formed with the objective of minimizing improper use of guns and engagement in violence.

During the period between 2000 and 2008, he was appointed by the then governor to the board of Maryland Handgun Roster. The governor in the government that came four years after his first appointment retained him on the board until 2008. Currently, he is a member of the Bar Association of Maryland State, James Macgil American Inn of Court and a member of the Howard County Bar Foundation.

This man has been a resident of Howard County since 1975. He is still a resident up to today. Currently, he sits as the president of the Elliot City fire Department that is made up f volunteers. In years that have passed, he has served as the treasurer at St. John Association. He seems a very busy man. He has an uncountable number of leadership positions, and all of them demand his attention.

He has equally been a very active member of youth sports in the county. He has worked in this sector in several leadership and facilitator positions for many years. Attending to all these activities and jobs is not an easy task, but this man has managed handling all of them for all this time.

He has been a married man for over thirty nine years. His wife Donna Broccolino died some years back, but the rest of his family still lives in Howard County. They had two children, both of whom are married, and four grandchildren. He is a very dedicated family man as may be seen from the way he takes care of his beloved family.
