Happiness isn't somethign that just shows up in our lives whenever we feel like it. Happiness depends on our actions.
End your pursuit of happiness.
Perhaps Hollywood, magazines, talk shows etc. would not like this controversial idea too much because it would cut down on viewership if people followed through with it, but I am going to say it again. End your pursuit of happiness.
Rather, begin to recognize that it is in our daily actions and expansion in life that we actually find accomplishment, and in the final analysis, deep and true happiness.
I'm not suggesting that deep and true happiness isn't a critical aspect in each of our lives - it would absolutely be ignorant to claim such a thing. What I am proposing is that maybe there really is a different trail we can take that will direct us to larger amounts of happiness all throughout our life. Perhaps we should be aiming more towards development of our mind, body, and soul each and every day in tiny increments to guarantee that we are continually growing and adapting in positive ways? This should be a very interesting alternate track to take instead of always looking for something that we are able to never truly grasp onto.
If we are constantly growing, we feel that we are making progress in our lives and therefore are happy with how things are going. Nevertheless aimlessly looking for an emotion that cannot truly be gripped onto like every other emotion we experience seems a bit hopeless when it comes down to it. There needs to be another way of doing things that may help us get more successful in life in the long run.
So what if you tried on this idea for some time and allowed yourself to focus on growth instead of happiness?
Who is able to say what might actually happen?
All I know is that development in life is connected to personal development and growth and that contentment really isn't far behind.
Food for thought.
