In case you have not explored West Virginia State, then you are missing a lot. This is now turning out to be the destination of choice for tourists interested in American cultural heritage as showcased through unique exhibitions in events that runs throughout the year in WV. The West Virginia Festivals have their unique place in global event calendar with a number of them having international recognition status, others even winning awards.

The State Fair of WV is one of the events you would not want to miss from. It runs for 9 days of August when exhibition of the native economic and cultural heritage takes place. The event is fun filled with family activities, carnival rides, animals, live music, agricultural exhibition, harness racing, nightly concerts, beauty queen competition and bingo contests just to mention a few. It is an annual tradition in Lewisburg, WV that is almost a century old and continues attracting large crowds.

The FestiALL that was conceived in 2004 and first took place in 2005 has grown to international status with visitors flocking from all corners of the globe. It features best talents WV has to offer with the main categories being the visual arts, films, music, dance, food festival, wine festival, theater performance and many other entertaining items with performances from local, regional and international artists. It has been celebrated in every June at Charleston, WV since its conception in 2005.

Vandalia Gathering celebrated in late May in Charleston is the event where you will get to see all the American tradition at ago. Be it music, dance, crafts, stories and the best of foods this state has to offer. The event takes place at the State Capital grounds and at the Cultural Center with the primary goal being to showcase the traditional mountain culture of state natives and attract huge crowds from all parts of United States.

The Italian Heritage Festivals in this state are the most unique there is. They focus on showcasing the Italian-American cultural heritage. The first one take place in late July and is known as the Upper Ohio Valley Heritage Festival which is the largest of its kind in this state and second largest Italian event in United States attracting over 175,000 from US and Canada.

This is then followed by the WV Italian Heritage Festival which take place in the Labor Day Weekend (August/September) honoring the rich culture that has been passed down from generation to generation. It is a 3-day street match event attracting over 100,000 visitors annually.

The Labor Weekend in August to September then follows with the West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival honoring the traditions that have been passed from one generation to the next for decades now. This is where you experience the best of culture as evidenced in arts, paintings, foods, dance and other activities with a 3-day street match climax.

The list of West Virginia Festivals cannot be discussed fully in one article since the state is known for several national and international events that have remained the tourist attraction for decades now. Being part of this celebration is always fulfilling and memorable.
