Reason As To Why People Should To Respect The Day Of Atonement

The Atonement day begins at sundown and ends before dark the following day. It is also known as Yam Kippur. In the Jewish calendar it is a time set for repentance of ones sins and focus on the preceding year. It is considered as the most important holiday, and many who do not regularly observe other Jewish practices have respected this day. They go to synagogue to on the Day of Atonement and fast. There are some important facts that people should know about Yam Kippur.

This is a day that is so significant to the Jews. A very high percentage of people believe that this the right moment when people make peace with God. There are people who have committed sin and seek for forgiveness. Therefore, they consider it as the holiest day of the calendar year. They liken this day to High Holy Day or days of Awe. This makes it so important to the community that believes in almighty God.

In the bible the scriptures clearly state that people who commit sins are booked by God. The lord closes the names in a way that no one can delete them. They will be used during the judgment day. The Jews are not an exception. They use this day to confess and repent all the sins they have committed. This helps them to bring back the good relationship they had lost with others and their soul sustainer.

On the eve of this day, people throw their sins in a ritual known as Tashlich or to cast out. People prepare loaves of bread and gather in a congregation. They identify a water body where they walk for long before making this ritual. Someone appointed as a leader in the synagogue leads them in reciting prayers. Thereafter, they throw the bread in the water to symbolize casting away of their sins.

Before the actual time, people gather in a place with a chicken. The leaders wave the chicken thrice over their head and the say the book of Isaiah chapter one verse eighteen to please God. After they cut the bird and offer it or sum of money equivalent to its value to the poor. This is a symbol of coming together to request for forgiveness from the lord almighty.

People who are willing to forgive one another must be ready to show peace and confess to each other. This is not only done orally, but also through symbols of unity. The people of Israel wear white clothing to symbolize the unity and peace they have. People are ready and willing to forgive each other.

Many followers fast for a whole day for Yom Kippur. Those who cannot make it especially the pregnant women and children are exempted. Some people avoid deodorants for bathing, washing and makeups. They are also advised to shun away from sexual practices during this period of time. Most people close down their work to rest.

This special moment should be embraced by all. They should respect those who are involved in this practice. People need to practice forgiving one another and reconcile this will help people to live in peace and harmony. We should remember to go before our creator and request God to delete our names in the book of offense.
