Cool And Rocking Wedding Venues Austin TX

By Rebecca Kelly

A wedding is often a once in a lifetime experience. As such, when selecting wedding venues Austin TX offers many viable locations. Some of these include the historic Driskill Hotel, Zilker Park, the Botanical Gardens and Lake Travis. For more traditional venues like churches, synagogues and temples, it is generally a requirement that the young couple meet with a minister, pastor or rabbit before booking.

While not always the case, it is important to book a venue as early as possible in the planning process. Whether looking towards an outdoor wedding in Spring, or an indoor church wedding, most facilities require nine months to a year notice. As this is the case, it is often advised the couple research a number of venues upon announcing an engagement.

While obtaining a venue is generally the first step, there are other considerations with regards to location. For example, if attendees have to use public transportation, it is important to obtain bus or train schedules in advance. As buses and trains do not operate in many areas on weekends, advance knowledge can help provide attendees with alternative modes of transportation.

When looking for a city location, the Driskill and local city parks are often good choices. The Driskill can be a great location for those operating on an unlimited budget and will often offer guests discounts on room and other charges. Otherwise, the parks can provide a great outdoor wedding experience if the couple is lucky enough to win a spot through the ongoing lottery.

Churches, synagogues and temples on the other hand have been known to offer free options for members. Although, most often the minister or rabbi in charge will request a meeting with the couple before providing services. Whether or not a space is free, it is always customary to provide a nominal donation for ministerial services following the ceremony.

As there is currently a large influx of people moving to Austin from other areas, it is best to book any venue well in advance. Most often, places can be reserved nine months to a year in advance, and even longer in some cases. While there are a number of traditional venues in the area, couples in a hurry can still opt for going to a Justice of the Peace, then hosting a wedding party at a later date when a desired venue becomes available.

The botanical gardens are an extension of Zilker park and also operated by the local parks and recreation department. The same reservation system applies to both Zilker park and the botanical gardens. In both cases, there is generally a deposit required to hold the venue once a spot has been designated or becomes available. As the gardens tend to be the most popular, it can often be easier to win a spot in Zilker which also has beautiful flora and fauna in different areas.

Ultimately, when considering a venue, it is also important to consider cost, location, decor and weather. When planning an outdoor wedding, it is often good to also have an indoor option in case of inclement weather. Whereas, location can also be important, especially in the case of out-of-town guests.
