Rapping 101

By Eric Garcia

For music enthusiasts, writing rap songs can be tricky. It is a skill that can be developed by everyone though. However, to master the art of rap, one should learn how to rap, listen to the mixed thoughts inside your mind. This is the only way to become The Absolute Emcee.

Rapping is a mixture of music and beat. Beginning with instrumentals that create a rhythm and permitting the music to circulate when you write your initial rhymes for that rap is important. For newbie's that are looking to harness their potential in creating rap tunes, simply follow these simple steps for creating awesome rap lyrics.

Begin with the foundation Song

Remember the letters LSS? Last Song Syndrome? Try LBS? Last Beat Syndrome, which beat keeps banging in your head for awhile? You can choose a theme for the base song that you relate to. Does the beat pop, is it mellow or wild? Do you have something to say to someone that you are dying just to get it out? Most rappers write lyrics based on personal experiences, which is good advice since you are creating music that listeners can relate to.

Write it down

When ideas start flowing out, start writing and never stop once it's begun. Every word or phrase that you just considered needs to be within your lyrics, write it down. Put everything down on the paper, even if the rhymes aren't connecting or clearly not connected using the phrases you added. Organizing the lyrics will come later. Just when you think you are done, you might have another phrase or word to incorporate. Be quick and write it, never wait too long. It is advisable to possess back-up words instead of just putting together a rap song that's half done.

Build the Hook

After the writing process, you are now ready for the next step. The hook also known as the chorus is the essence of rap music; it is the soul of the lyrics that grab the attention of the listener. Once you found your hook, which is usually a couple of lines; you can start making the arrangements on how the beat and lyrics will work together. The verses should work with the beat harmoniously to create an ecstatic music track.

The Background Music and the Beat

Lyrics and the beat go together. Many people think tapping or drumming from the fingers doesn't produce music. Apparently, individuals tapping and drumming would be the primary instrumentals which make the lyrics become music. The beats are by means of drums or bass guitars, enhancing the music track to move towards the much bolder and much deeper lines from the song. It's the mirror from the rapper's personality. This is the important point in which the author carefully magnifies or deducts the beat using the lyrics and vocal which help makes the transition of a track run easily.

Tuning

Final retouches of the rap can be strenuous. There might be times that you have to hire someone to ghostwrite your rap so it will fill in the gaps of the music. There are also music services and rap products like eBooks you can lease or buy. Lastly, bear in mind that your beat or base song should be close to perfect because that is how you will be recognized.
